Three years ago I heard about this conference called ECHO… a conference about church media.
I was intrigued.
Back in those days there weren’t many conferences for church media so I hopped on a plane and went to check it out.
I’m so glad I did.
Fast forward three years and today ECHO is one of the leading conferences, not only for church media, but for church communications, video, tech, lighting, design, and everything else. It’s like Disneyland for church creatives.
10 Reasons Why You Need to Be at ECHO…
- It’s consistently gotten better. They outdo themselves every year.
- Content and speakers are fresh and insightful… check out my notes from last year.
- Most meals are provided on site so you can hang out, chill, and connect. [And they give you Chick-fil-a.] That’s also a good selling feature when you’re asking for funds to go!
- The Westin makes a great margarita… wait, can I say that? Last year there was an episode of Toddlers and Tiaras being filmed there… I needed one. (Ok they weren’t filming the show, but there was a Jr Miss-something-or-other Beauty Pageant going on there. Scary.)
- It’s super-relational… soooo many people are there and the atmosphere is conducive to hanging out and getting to know people. I’ve made some great connections there.
- Watermark Church is an inspiring place to check out. I’m pretty sure if Urban Outfitters designed a church, it would be Watermark.
- They actually have good breakout sessions. I’m teaching one this year… shameless plug.
- It’s not too hyperactive or big conference feeling. Love that.
- Johnny & Chachi. ’nuff said.
- This year, Hillsong will be in town doing a night of worship at Fellowship Church on Friday night right after the conference. Bonus. Details here.
So all that to say, if you’re trying to decide on a conference to check out, I’d highly recommend you check out ECHO. It’s worth every dime… and who doesn’t love being in Texas at the end of July? Just be sure to pack your deodorant.
