My Christian journey was profoundly shaped by the fact that I was raised in what some would call a charismatic church. I was raised in an Assemblies of God church and the first five years of my life in ministry were working on staff at an A/G church. I am grateful for how I was raised and after no longer attending an A/G church, I have come to value the impact growing up in a charismatic church made on my life. I will, however, note that there are some unique and quirky things that come along with it.

Getting After It
A month ago today, I began a wellness journey. I wouldn’t necessarily call it a New Year’s resolution, but more of a health revolution. If you follow me on Twitter, you may have noticed a number of tweets from the gym in the past month or so. Since January 23 I’ve lost 15 pounds and am well on the way, Lord willing, to a healthy lifestyle.

Today is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of the Lenten season. While most evangelical churches don’t observe Lent, this year I decided to go along for the journey and see what it’s all about.
