God has a unique way of doing what He does best: the unexpected.
A couple of weeks ago I embarked on what was supposed to be a quick trip to Australia. I spent about a week in Sydney and flew to Queensland to speak at the Christian Media Australia Conference. I returned to Sydney for the weekend and was meant to fly back to Chicago on Monday. Instead, today [which is Wednesday in my part of the world] I’m in Auckland, New Zealand.
I’m no expert but I’ve lived enough of life to know that when God is in control and you live keenly aware of His whispers and the leading of the Spirit, there’s no telling where He will lead you.
I’ve made some pretty crazy decisions in my life, completely going off of what I felt God was calling me to do. Those decisions have included the decision I made to not go to college and instead pursuing my passion to do media and communication for my church. Then there was the time after a weekend visit to Chicago five years ago that I decided to email Park Community Church about working for them, even though they weren’t looking to hire anyone in the area of communication. That ended up being one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Over a year ago, I knew God was leading me from working on staff at Park to help serve the broader Church. And, when I lost my job over a month ago now, I knew I didn’t need to worry. Based on His track record in my life, I knew I could trust that God would provide.
Well, quite unexpectedly, my life is moving in a new direction and I’ve been obediently following the path ahead of me, walking by faith, into the unknown. In a couple of days I’ll be returning to Australia and will be living in there for the next three months! Every aspect of how this has come together is remarkable and only something that God could have orchestrated in His perfect way.
I’ll share more as I’m able to and am so excited about what’s ahead. I would appreciate your prayers as the final details come together. God is indeed faithful and good!
“…the wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.” – Jesus, John 3:8
Walk by faith. Live by the Spirit. Trust God. He is with you!
