My friend Ben came up with a very unique idea… that’s right. Boxed Water.
(It’s one of those things that makes me stop and wonder, “Why didn’t I think of that?”)
With concerns with bottled water’s impact on the environment, this idea just makes sense.
Ben brought me a case of the Boxed Water over the weekend and I have to say, it’s pretty cool. The packaging is simple but sends a strong message. And the water, well, it’s water! It think it’s definitely better than bottled water. (And, I wonder if there would be a tax charged on it in cities like Chicago that have a bottled water tax?)
So why is boxed water better? (from the box):
- 93% of the box comes from a renewable resource, trees.
- Trees used to make the box come from certified, well managed forests. These forests remain healthy and stable through ongoing replanting while removing CO2 from the atmosphere.
- The creation and distribution of the box has a significantly lower carbon footprint compared to plastic bottles, up to 80% in some cases.
- The box is recyclable.
- 10% of the profit goes to world water relief.
- Another 10% goes to reforestation foundation.
