Coast-to-Coast Tour!

On Saturday I’m embarking on a coat-to-coast tour… kind of…

  • June 5 – I fly to Charleston, South Carolina. This will be my first time in Charleston… I’m excited. I’m going to hang with my friend and former Park-er, Zhenya, who is about to open a baby boutique called Sugar Snap Pea.
  • June 6 – I’ll be checking out at Seacoast Church and hanging with Shawn Wood.
  • June 7 – I’m participating in a Dream Session with some brilliant minds at Water Missions International.
  • June 8 – I fly to San Diego and get to meet my new nephew Raef!
  • June 9 – Hanging with Drew Goodmanson and his team at Ekklesia360.
  • June 10 – Road tripping to Orange County for the Saddleback Conversation Gathering featuring Rick & Kay Warren, Jim Belcher, Soong Chan Rah, Skye Jethani and more. The focus of the conversation will be The Future of the Global Church. We’ll be talking about the future church, next generation leaders, and what it all means! There’s still a few spots left, so if you are in or near LA, sign up! If you can’t make it, this will be the first Conversation Gathering that will be broadcasted LIVE online from 7-9 PM (PST)! Deets here.
  • June 11-13 – Back in San Diego getting some R&R and hitting up the beach!
  • June 14 – I’ll be back on the ground in Chicago and will be a part of the Story Unfolding webcast amping up for the Story Conference. You don’t want to miss it!

So all of that to say I have a busy week ahead of me and also to let you know if you’re in the Charleston area or near San Diego or LA, I’d love to connect! Drop me a line and we’ll see what we can arrange!

Will Blog for Kiva.org

So today has been a bit wild.

Even though Twitter crashed for awhile (and we all thought it was the end of the world), I was amazed to see how word about my notes from the Leadership Summit spread across the Twittersphere… thanks in part to @ShawnWood, @CatalystLeader and others.

As of this blog post, nearly 2,000 people have visited my blog today (WOAH!) and I’ve added quite a few followers on Twitter as well (welcome!).

So midway though the afternoon my friend Shawn posted this Tweet:

shawnstweet

I replied back agreeing and then Shawn took it to the next level and set this up:

Then I had an idea (thanks to a friend)… what if I took that money and did something productive with it… say, donate it to Kiva.org?

Quite appropriate considering Jessica Jackley, the co-founder of Kiva.org spoke the Summit today.

I first learned about how microlending works when Seth sent me a copy of The Blue Sweater to read and review on my blog. I found the whole idea and concept fascinating and after hearing Jessica talk today, I knew it’s what I wanted to do with whatever “play money” I’d get from donations.

2,000 of you have visited my page today and no doubt there will be more tomorrow as I keep blogging my notes from tomorrow’s sessions.

So, if they are valuable to you, why not chip in a dollar or two? And let’s do something, together.

I’m excited to see where this will go and to share the story of the person whose life this is going to impact!

Echo 09

Really excited to be heading to Dallas tomorrow with Jason Widney to check out the Echo Church Media Conference. Should be a blast!

Really looking forward to be hearing from a great line-up of speakers including: Phil Vischer, Ben Arment, Phil Cooke, Mark Steele, Dawn Nicole Baldwin, Cynthia Ware, Matt Knisely, Shawn Wood, Drew Goodmanson, Carlos Whittaker, Greg Atkinson, Richard Reising… and many more!

I’ll be blogging my notes and Tweeting away, so be sure to stay tuned!
